What is the difference between propecia and finasteride?
Both finasteride and propecia both block the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the most important hormone in the body. DHT is a hormone that affects the growth of hair. When you take propecia, you’re taking a medication called finasteride, which you’ve taken on the first day of treatment. In my case, the finasteride was taken in early February and the propecia was taken in late March and early April. The only difference is that one of the sides of my scalp is completely bald. It’s not permanent and I’m not at all worried about it!
Why do you need to take these two medications together?
First, finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. The more hair your hair has, the more it will grow and the more it will lose its ability to grow hair. You will likely take finasteride daily. The only side effect you should take is a scalp irritation at the scalp. This is a serious side effect that you need to watch out for.
Finasteride can be taken once a day at a time and you should take it on a full stomach, preferably with food or milk. I use a liquid form of the medication in my hair care regimen. You can take it with or without food. The dose of the medication will be based on the severity of your hair loss. It should not be taken in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. If you are taking a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, it’s best to take the medication at the same time every day. You’ll see that you are getting a better result, and the hair loss will return.
What’s the difference between the two?
